The At-Home Panchakarma Program

Ayurveda is for everyone! This might also be the core idea behind the book “The 7-Day At-Home Panchakarma Program,” which actress, voice actress, dancer, and singer Andrea Kathrin Loewig released in collaboration with European Ayurveda® pioneer Elisabeth Mauracher and Ayurveda physician Gaurav Sharma.

The At-Home Panchakarma Program guides you through your 7-day detox, where not only your body is cleansed and re-energized, but your mind and soul also find balance. A wonderful experience that you can enjoy easily and comfortably in your own home.

Great Collaboration: Andrea Kathrin Loewig and European Ayurveda®

In the popular series “In aller Freundschaft,” Andrea Kathrin Loewig plays Dr. Globisch. Privately, however, Loewig is very interested in the holistic approach to medicine and sees potential in complementing conventional Western medicine with other healing methods.

Even though she had encountered Ayurveda repeatedly, it took a while until her path finally led her to Tyrol, to the European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof, and thus to the concept of European Ayurveda®.

It was probably the right moment. The actress, with her open nature, was precisely at a life stage where it’s about recognizing what truly matters. After her Panchakarma Light Program, the artist felt not only new energy within herself but also a changed perception of herself and her surroundings.

A process of awareness, sharpening the senses, had begun, and sharing this experience became a matter of the heart for Loewig. And so, the book “The 7-Day At-Home Panchakarma Program” was created.

Discover the At-Home Panchakarma Program

In our book “Ayurveda: The 7-Day At-Home Panchakarma Program,” our experts show you how to gently detox in 7 days.

Because not everyone can afford a multi-week Ayurvedic program – be it for financial or time reasons. However, if the willingness for change is there, then this book is a good way to start holistic detoxing.

What Exactly Is Panchakarma?

As the queen of all Ayurvedic programs, Panchakarma is particularly intensive and thus a profound measure to restore balance both physically and psychologically.

As a guided program in a suitable facility – such as the European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof – it is accompanied by a team of experts, Ayurveda physicians, and doctors. Depending on the ailment, a classic Panchakarma program can therefore last several weeks.

It is particularly suitable for gastrointestinal diseases, metabolic disorders, skin conditions, chronic pain, and also delays the aging process, among other things, because fasting renews cells.

Translated, Panchakarma means “Five Actions”; these five forms of treatment are:

  • Vamana (therapeutic emesis)
  • Virechana (purgation)
  • Anuvasana Basti (oil enema) and Asthapana Basti (non-oily enema with herbal medicine)
  • Nasya (cleansing of the head area through sinus treatments)
  • Oils (oiling, Abhyanga oil massages)

In addition, there is the – especially important in the West – part of “mental detoxification” with yoga, meditation exercises, breathing exercises, and impulses for self-reflection.

When is a Panchakarma Program suitable?

As a holistic detox program, Panchakarma differs significantly from other programs due to its deeper intensity. But is Panchakarma the right program for you, or when is a Panchakarma program suitable for you?

The Responsibility to Take Care of Oneself

In Ayurveda, not only are body, mind, and soul understood as a unity, but rather we are one with the cosmos, nature, and its changing tides. Our modern, performance-driven society, however, virtually forces us to deliver the same performance at all times.

We are therefore demanding something from ourselves that completely contradicts nature. This alienation has not only led to us fostering diseases that are now particularly prevalent in our Western world, but also to us being out of balance with ourselves.

Elisabeth Mauracher Quote Profile Picture

“Even at home, Panchakarma can provide valuable impulses for relief and regeneration. The key is to integrate the program mindfully, gently, and well-coordinated into daily life.”

Elisabeth Naschberger-Mauracher, European Ayurveda Expert & Managing Director of the European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof in Tyrol

Constantly betraying our own health has almost become a given. If we don’t experience stress, we seem not to fulfill a certain image of success. According to Ayurveda, however, it is the responsibility of each individual to take good care of themselves, and that means holistically.

According to this approach, you are always your very first doctor. We have unlearned to cultivate this kind of self-responsibility. The motto we have instead made a habit is to function at all costs. But as Ayurveda physician Gaurav Sharma aptly says, habits lead to illnesses.

Panchakarma and European Ayurveda® for Home

“The 7-Day At-Home Panchakarma Program” is structured so simply that you can easily implement it in your own home.

Insights into the Panchakarma Book

European Ayurveda® therefore combines the ancient Indian healing tradition of Ayurveda with the demands of the Western world. This brings complaints such as migraines, tension headaches, back problems, stress-related irritable bowel syndrome, depression, anxiety, or burnout to the forefront.

And the vast array of possibilities also drives some to the brink of despair. The agony of choice in lifestyles and the dogma of having to experience as much as possible plunge us into emotional stress.

For a holistically healthy life, European Ayurveda® emphasizes the following:

  • Breathing
  • Nutrition
  • Sleep
  • Physical Activity
  • Mental Balance

“The 7-Day At-Home Panchakarma Program” does not claim to replace a full Panchakarma program. Rather, it is about finding a way to reconnect with oneself and one’s own feelings, without having to completely turn one’s life upside down.

The book is particularly easy to implement; it offers you a small introduction to Ayurvedic philosophy, the concept of European Ayurveda®, and provides valuable tips and tricks from pantry essentials to an emergency kit.

Program Flow at Home

From Day 1 to Day 7, a structured process guides you through your Panchakarma Program. From the Ayurvedic morning routine to the evening ritual. You gain exciting insights into the individual chakras and are also inspired with breathing and yoga exercises for meditation and movement.

Massages are also an important part of the program, along with exercises, thought-provoking questions for self-reflection, and beautiful mindfulness rituals. These include, for example, a gratitude list or a soul letter. Delicious recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner complete the program.

And once you’ve completed the seven days, the book also gives you further tips on how to integrate your newfound sense of well-being into your daily life. These help you to shed unhealthy habits, embrace change, and develop a healthy relationship with your diet.

In addition to the program, there are also more delicious recipes as inspiration for a healthy lifestyle. As mentioned: the book does not replace a proper Panchakarma program, but it can help you get the best out of yourself and sharpen your awareness of what truly benefits you. We wish you a lot of enjoyment with your At-Home Panchakarma Program!
