Suitable foods for Vata

The Vata Dosha coordinates movements in the body and supports your memory. If it is out of balance, restlessness, dry skin, stress, racing thoughts, digestive issues, hair loss, dissatisfaction, worry, and frequently feeling cold can be indicators.

To bring your bio-energy back into balance, we primarily recommend spicy, bitter, and astringent foods. Additionally, they should be easily digestible, nutrient-rich, and warming. Regarding vegetables, raw food is not recommended. Instead, opt for steamed, grilled, or boiled preparation methods. This is gentler on your digestive organs and warms you from within.

For breakfast, you should also opt for a warm meal. How about a delicious porridge with baked fruit, for example? Discover more delicious breakfast recipes.

Nutritional tips for Pitta types

Pitta is the Dosha of transformation and conversion and supports the digestive fire Agni. If it gets out of balance, you are likely easily irritable, often thirsty, and experience heartburn and burning eyes. To counteract this, the right nutrition is essential.

For dairy products, focus on quark, cream cheese, ghee, and unsalted butter. Perfect protein sources for you are also lupins, chickpeas, black lentils, and yellow lentils. Meanwhile, whole grain products and rice are ideal carbohydrates.

You can season or refine your dishes excellently with basil, dill, peppermint, parsley, black pepper, caraway, and anise.

Optimal nutrition for Kapha individuals

Stability, calm, and regeneration are attributed to the Kapha Dosha. It helps you to slow down and maintain inner balance. It can become problematic if Kapha becomes excessive. The digestive fire Agni does not burn as hot as usual.

Digestive and metabolic problems can be the result. Accordingly, everything that gets Agni moving again is good for Kapha. Turmeric, thyme, ginger, or garlic are spices that help you bring Kapha into balance.

Ayurveda herbs

Discover Ayurveda herbs & spices now

Spices and herbs belong to Ayurvedic nutrition just as the sense of balance belongs to yoga! And here, too, the correct use of ingredients is essential. You will find a diverse selection of Ayurvedic spices and herbs with us.

Fresh, dried, and bitter fruit is not only very healthy but also balances the bio-energy. Whole grains, cooked grains, rice, or corn are also beneficial for Kapha.

The digestive fire Agni

In terms of Ayurvedic nutrition, there is another important player: the digestive fire Agni. This is directly responsible for food utilization, energy production, and cell renewal.

Drinking warm water for digestion in Ayurveda

If one of the Doshas is out of balance, digestive power decreases. This in turn leads to an immediate disruption of the bio-energies. As a general rule, you can remember: Only eat when you are truly hungry. Most people confuse hunger with appetite, eating out of boredom or frustration.

Nowadays, so much happens externally that we have often lost touch with our innermost selves and thus our natural sense of hunger. Therefore, it is enormously important to find your way back to intuitive eating.
