You’ll learn to live in harmony with yourself and nature—mindfully, in a way that suits your constitution, and in tune with what’s good for you.
Nestled in one of Tyrol’s most vibrant locations—the high plateau of the Thierseetal valley—lies the European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof, a true gem. Here, in the heart of Europe, you’ll find the ancient healing traditions of the Far East—and a place where they are being adapted to meet the challenges of our time, to foster sustainable regeneration, and to support a long, fulfilling life in balance.
European Ayurveda® combines the wisdom of Ayurveda with modern research on cellular health, epigenetics, and energy in the body. Based on this, we develop personalized treatments, Ayurvedic regimens, nutrition plans, and regeneration programs at our Ayurveda hotel in Austria—so that you can feel healthy, balanced, and at ease.

Drawing on the many years of experience of our Ayurvedic physicians, Panchakarma—the queen of all Ayurvedic treatments—is adapted to a European context. The Panchakarma treatment creates a new source of strength within you. It offers you the opportunity to truly slow down, let go of past burdens, and detoxify your body and mind.
With our award-winning Ayurvedic detox programs, you give your body, mind, and soul the chance to detoxify, refocus on what truly matters, and experience more lightness in your life. By letting go of old beliefs, you’ll become emotionally stronger and be ready to turn your visions into reality.
Longevity is more than just the absence of illness. It arises when you find inner peace, allow your body’s systems to regenerate, and reconnect with yourself. In our Longevity Programs, we combine millennia-old wisdom with a modern lifestyle—for a sustainable, healthy lifestyle that feels right.
Do you want to detox physically and mentally? By letting go of old patterns and beliefs, you’ll become emotionally stronger and be ready to turn your visions into reality. Let physical treatments, coaching, and yoga sessions help you reset holistically and tap into your strength and creativity.
If you’d like to treat yourself to a mindful break and experience the world of EuropeanAyurveda® at your own pace, our retreats are just right for you. European Ayurveda® is an evolution of traditional Ayurvedic teachings, specifically tailored to the needs of Westerners. It combines the knowledge of traditional Ayurveda with modern science and Western medicine.
The focus is on holistic and personalized care, as well as practical, everyday applications. Nutrition, herbal remedies, and treatments are tailored to the Central European lifestyle and address common health issues.
Our Ayurvedic treatments are divided into three areas of expertise:
EA Detox: Panchakarma and Ayurdetox treatments deeply cleanse the body, mind, and soul, and strengthen the immune system and gut.
EA Balance: Gently rejuvenate your body and mind with a Rasayana treatment, or intensively with a Longevity treatment. With the Ayurveda Plus treatment, you can also place special emphasis on your musculoskeletal system. For healthy longevity and greater balance.
EA Energy: Recharge your energy reserves with our Summer Refresh Program and release emotional blockages with our Emotional Healing Program.
Tip: Use our Treatment Finder to find the right Ayurvedic treatment for your needs. Our Ayurvedic programs are also ideal for shorter stays.
For a comprehensive Ayurvedic retreat, you should plan on staying at least 7 nights. If you’re planning a shorter stay of 4 nights or fewer, an Ayurvedic program or a short AyurDetox cleanse are good options.
A professional Ayurvedic treatment package starts at approximately 1,200 euros (plus room rate). This includes a detailed pulse diagnosis and consultation, as well as Ayurvedic massages and treatments based on those findings. Meals and access to the spa are also included.
No, you don’t need any prior experience for your stay at the Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof. If you’d like to undergo an Ayurvedic treatment with us, we’d be happy to send you some tips on how to prepare for it in advance.
Our yoga classes are also open to all levels. It’s not about performance, but about conscious movement of the body and mental mindfulness.
Ayurvedic treatments are generally not considered standard health insurance benefits in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. For this reason, they are usually not fully covered by public health insurance.
However, with some private health insurance plans or supplemental insurance policies, individual treatments can be submitted for reimbursement.
Please clarify in advance with your insurance company which treatments they would cover. We then ask you to let us know before payment if you need an extra invoice so that we can issue it on the spot. Once the invoice has been finalized, we can no longer make any changes to it.
Please note: Our Ayurvedic practitioners do not hold conventional medical degrees, so they are not always covered by health insurance. We have a conventional medical doctor on staff once a week. You are welcome to schedule an additional consultation with him.
An Ayurvedic treatment can help alleviate symptoms, particularly in cases of exhaustion and stress-related issues, digestive problems, hormonal imbalances, skin problems, and sleep disorders.
Many of our guests also come to us with migraines and back or joint pain. Ayurveda can also help with recovery from chronic conditions or after a serious illness, thanks to its holistic approach and personalized consultations.
In our EA Online Shop you’ll find high-quality Ayurvedic products for home use. Whether it’s European Ayurvedic home treatment kits, Ayurvedic foods and supplements, cosmetics, or cookbooks—bring Ayurveda right into your home with ease.
Yes, during the treatment program, we primarily use plant-based products and offer many vegan dishes. This means that all treatment programs can be tailored to be vegan.
The Sonnhof was honored at the World Luxury Spa Awards in both 2024 and 2025 in the “World’s Best Detox Program” category. The resort also impresses on Google Reviews, with a rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars based on 215 reviews.
You can recognize a good Ayurvedic hotel—regardless of any awards it may have received—by five verifiable criteria: a medical history interview at the start of the treatment, an on-site Ayurvedic physician, a minimum treatment duration of several days, its own Ayurvedic kitchen, and therapists with thorough training.
Any treatment plan can be adjusted on-site as needed. Since we tailor every treatment plan to the individual needs of our guests, each one is already customized for you.
Yes, our Ayurvedic practitioners, specialists, and therapists provide personalized care to guests throughout their stay.
In addition, our school physician, Dr. Sinop, is on campus once a week. Our psychosocial counselor and coach, Harald Niederl, provides emotional and psychological support.

Depending on the program you book, Ayurvedic full board, teas, and personalized meals are included.
During our wellness programs, the main meal is served at lunchtime and consists of a light 3-course detox menu. In the evening, depending on the program, you can choose between soup or soup and a main course.
Breakfast is prepared according to the specific treatment plan and typically includes porridge, stewed fruit, or kichari. However, each meal plan is tailored to our guests based on their specific treatment plan.
We are a meat-free restaurant. Every evening, we offer a fish main course.
Yes, please let the European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof know about any allergies or special dietary requirements before your arrival.
No, traditional Ayurvedic detox programs are usually based on a light, nourishing diet rather than complete fasting—which means that a tailored meal plan is provided each day. A gentle fasting day is often incorporated into the course of treatment.
In general, exercise is permitted during the course of treatment. However, during the detoxification phase of the treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise and opt for gentler activities instead.
Yoga sessions from the weekly program, as well as walks and easy hikes, can be enjoyed throughout your stay.
The resort is situated in a quiet, scenic location in Hinterthiersee, Tyrol, surrounded by mountains, nature, and hiking trails—about 20 minutes from Kufstein.

The European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof combines the millennia-old healing tradition of Ayurveda with medical expertise. Every treatment program begins with a detailed pulse diagnosis and consultation by our Ayurvedic physicians, based on which treatments and dietary plans are tailored to your constitutional type. Once a week, our conventional physician, Dr. Sinop, is also on site for an additional medical consultation.
Our psychosocial counselor, Harald Niederl, provides emotional support. This combination of Ayurvedic practitioners, conventional medicine, and psychosocial care makes the Sonnhof one of the few Ayurvedic hotels in Tyrol to offer programs that are supervised by a physician from start to finish.
